In 1900, in a religious island community in north-eastern Italy, young Agata learns about a church in the mountains, where it is possible to bring a still-born back to life to be baptized. Determined to save her daughter’s soul, in the shroud of night Agata digs up the little coffin and embarks on a perilous voyage. On the way she meets Lynx, a sly, wild boy who offers to help her in exchange for the mysterious content of her box. Small Body (Cannes Int’l Critics’ Week) is a mystic fairy tale about grief, death and healing, based on old folk legends and real sanctuaries up in the Alps.
