Growing up in Berlin’s multicultural Kreuzberg district with an older sister and an absent alcoholic mother, 14-year-old Nora experiences many firsts. She gets her first period, smokes weed, discovers that she likes girls and meets the indomitable Romy. In her company, the noisy and bustling neighborhood suddenly becomes a space without limits, full of hidden beauties. As she melts under the unbearable summer heat and Romy’s wild charm, Nora will finally learn to stand up for herself. This sun-drenched adolescent coming-out drama premiered at Berlinale on opening night.
