Yusuf and his best friend Memo live in a residential school for Kurdish boys in Turkey. Secluded in the snow-clad mountains, the pupils live at the mercy of the cold school administration. When Memo falls ill after a cold-shower punishment, Yusuf in vain tries to get the indifferent staff to help. By the time the adults realize the gravity of the situation, the school has been buried under heavy snowfall. As time runs out, the pupils and staff engage in a blame game. Hailed as a cross between Oliver Twist and The Death of Mr. Lazarescu, the film won the FIPRESCI Award at Berlinale.
