Sarah (Nana Mensah) is a Ghanaian-American about to abandon her doctoral studies to follow her married lover to Ohio. Just before she leaves, Sarah’s mother dies, leaving her a small Christian bookstore in the Bronx. As she tries to organize a funeral befitting the family matriarch and decide what to do with the bookshop, Sarah must juggle the expectations of her quirky family and the reappearance of her estranged father. Queen of Glory (Tribeca – Best Director) is a charming dramedy about the immigrant experience, the relationship with one’s own heritage and the ties that can both strengthen and hold us back.
