Workshop: Read What You Watch

The workshop connecting cinematic art and literature is intended for primary school children, intended to encourage children to engage in critical thinking, rouse their interest in reading and offer a framework for discovering new and creative ways of interpreting books and films.

The workshop is divided into two parts, with each part consisting of a film screening, discussion with expert moderators and a practical task. The task involves reading a book that has been adapted on film and writing a review with the help of the workshop brochure. The three best reviews will receive a package of books for young readers and a set of tickets for screenings of their choice at Kinoteka cinema. The winners will be announced at this year’s KinoKino festival.

Workshop moderators are director Marina Andree Škop and film critic Nino Kovačić, while the films screened as part of the workshop will be Matteo Garrone’s Pinocchio (Italy, France) and Čejen Černić Čanak’s The Mystery of Green Hill (Croatia).
