The Balkan Peninsula is the refuge of Europe’s last wild rivers, which sustain an abundance of wildlife and create healthy ecosystems. The rivers are “undamaged” – clean, untouched and untainted. But with more than 2,700 hydropower plants planned or under construction in the Balkans, corruption and greed are destroying the last free-flowing rivers in Europe. Follow the Balkan Rivers Tour, a crew of kayakers, filmmakers, photographers and friends taking a stand for the rivers. Traveling for 36 days from Slovenia to Albania, kayaking down 23 rivers in 6 countries, they protest the construction of dams, giving us a glimpse of the secret rivers of the Balkans.
